When gymnastics fans and officials arrive in downtown Indianapolis to watch the USA’s and many of the world’s best gymnasts compete for national honors at the P&G Gymnastics Championships Aug. 13-16, they’ll also be treated to special events and activities in Bankers Life Fieldhouse and on adjacent Georgia Street.
Led by two-time defending U.S. and World all-around champion Simone Biles, eight women who have won World Championships gold medals have registered to compete at the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships.
Sam Mikulak will be seeking his third consecutive U.S. all-around title at the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for Aug. 13-16 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Hoosiers will have several opportunities to meet and get autographs from Indianapolis native Samantha Peszek, who was a member of the 2008 Olympic Team that won the team silver medal, and Simone Biles, who is the defending U.S. all-around champion and the 2013-14 World all-around champion.
As part of the 2015 Olympic Day celebration in Indianapolis, USA Gymnastics and Indiana Sports Corp recognized the 11 companies that have become local partners for the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships and shared plans for fan activities.
To celebrate Olympic Day and promote the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships, USA Gymnastics and Indiana Sports Corp, along with USA Track and Field, are planning a host of fun activities from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on June 23.
2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin has added Grand Marshal of the 99th Indianapolis 500 to her list of titles. Liukin spent the holiday weekend in Indianapolis participating in the festivities of the Indianapolis 500 and promoting the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships.
2008 Olympic gold-medalist Shawn Johnson recently travelled to Indianapolis to promote the 2015 P&G Gymnastics Championships, scheduled for Aug. 13-16 at Bankers Life Field House, through appearing at several Indianapolis activities and participating in a gymnastics performance clinic at St. Vincent Sports Performance Northwest.
